Palmslap by Ben Teters

Ben Teters spent several years crafting his album "Palmslap", handling the writing, engineering, and production himself. Inspired by his early years as an emerging artist in New York City, the album takes its name from the band he was in when he first began writing the material.

To bring his vision to life, Teters assembled a talented lineup of musicians. Dan Africano (Theivery Corperation, John Browns Body) lays down the bass, while Julian Litwack (Action Bronson) delivers both rhythm and lead guitar. The album also features Cale Hawkins on keyboards, Adam Bonomo (BONOMO) on organ, Earl Brooks Jr. on steel pan, and Matt Lavon on saxophone. Palmslap showcases Teters’ ability to blend genres, fusing classic soul and R&B songwriting with Afro-Latin and world music influences.

Now, as Teters gears up for his debut album’s release, Live For Live Music is thrilled to premiere its lead single, “The Greatest Gift.” Anchored by Africano’s bass and Teters’ tight drumming, the track’s groove is locked in perfect sync. A soaring steel pan melody floats above the rhythm section, accentuated by vibrant horn arrangements. The lyrics offer a deep reflection on life and the human experience, giving listeners a glimpse into the artist’s introspective world.
